Jacobsen, der er uddannet planteskolegartner, hvilket stadig præger meget af hans tid.
I starten blev der produceret planter på lejet jord, som med tiden blev købt.
For at producere flere og flere planter, samt udlægge flere arealer til asparges, blev der tilkøbt et par mindre ejendomme i Stubberup..

Hurtigt efter overtagelsen af Torup Bakkegaard kom der gang i erhvervsplanteskolen samt afsætningen af asparges og kirsebær til Grønttorvet.
Erfaringerne fra Grøntorvet gjorde det interessant at prøve at afsætte andre afgrøder.
Derfor blev der plantet jordbær og ærter til plukning i samarbejde med Orelund.
En afsætning der er gået så godt, at vi konstant har haft behov for at øge vores arealer..

I starten blev de solgt som industri- og konsumløg via eksternt pakkeri.

Alle de gamle driftsbygninger var totalskadet, og en stor del af skoven var væltet.
