godine! Torcida je osnovana 28.10.1950.
godine, dan uoči utakmice u Splitu sa Crvenom Zvezdom, koju je Hajduk morao dobiti da bi prvi put postano prvak države u novoj, komunističkoj, Jugoslaviji.
Hajduk je dobio utakmicu uz pomoć dotad neviđenog navijanja tijekom cijele utakmice, koje nije posustajalo ni u trenutcima dok je gubio, i postao prvak bez poraza.

Već tijekom rata, kao srednjoškolac, kažnjavan je zbog razbijanja Musolinijeve slike u Vela Lučkoj školi..

Komunističke vlasti su osnivanje Torcide proglasili kao neprijateljski čin, koji predstavlja opasnost za sistem koji je zatirao nacionalnu svijest naroda unutar nove jugoslavenske države.
Žuvela je prepoznat kao organizator i zatvorski kažnjen.
Osim njega, represija je provedena nad još desetcima pripadnika novostvorene Torcide, nad nekima od glavnih igrača Hajduka, te pojedinim prohrvatski orijentiranim članovima uprave kluba.
