Ever resourceful, the Sunnyside people brought their church, and some of their houses, with them!. . Closure of many rural churches in the 1960s and voluntary government relocation of Point Tupper people during industrial development in the 1970s, left the little church vacant and forlorn.. . But help was at hand. In 1990, a group of dedicated people formed the Point Tupper Heritage Association and restoration began. So authentic was the work and so important was its significance as a memorial to a once vibrant village, the former church was designated a Municipal Heritage Building by the County of Richmond.. . Today it houses a summer museum dedicated to former area residents and is hot to a number of celebrations throughout the year.
