[email protected] Inspired by the book “More Or Less: Choosing a Lifestyle of Excessive Generosity” by Jeff Shinabarger, Karen Sampson was moved to begin a journey; a journey where generous people would view their possessions as temporary.
They would look toward the needs of others by using what they’ve been given.
Things don’t matter…people do.
A journey where generous people would freely give with no returns expected.
A journey where people would join in a bigger story; the Pedal Project is that bigger story.

Associated with Tahoe Forest Church, this non-profit Pedal Project collects bikes in any condition, refurbishes and distributes to those, of any age, in need.
Since the project began in early April of 2016, donations have poured in from our Truckee/Reno community including bikes and parts from Chris Atkins of the Bike Project in Reno.
Russ Walsh with Truckee Police has made sure that each bike received by the Project is equipped with a helmet.
Doug Wright and Julie Bedford along with Ace Mountain Hardware have donated a lock for every bike given away.
And Mike and Tara Vaughn have loaned the Project a delivery truck..
Volunteers have graciously donated their time and expertise repairing, cleaning, and restoring recycled bikes.
Gary Morgan, Pat Seehuter, Tom McElroy, Dr.
Peter Taylor and many others have spent hours making sure each bike received by the Project is repaired, clean, and safe to ride before it goes back out into the community..
To date, 140 bikes have been restored and distributed to various locations such as Truckee Elementary School, Truckee Family Resource Center of Truckee, Sierra High School, Grass Valley Foster Care System, Boys and Girls Club of Truckee and the homeless in our community.
The Project’s 2017 goal is to distribute 250 bikes over the course of the summer-early fall months..
