Recently I went to a couple weddings and a wedding gown sale. At one of the weddings the bride's father paid $3,000 for her dress. The couple didn't have a honeymoon. They didn't get to go make their memories. The bride at the other wedding paid nearly as much for her gown. I was simply astounded that a wedding gown would cost that much. Then again, the price of everything has gone up. The venue, flowers etc... anyway...I just think couples should have a great wedding and an important part of that is the gown. It is after all 'her day'. and that is as it should be. However, the bride should have a gown that makes her look and feel beautiful without breaking the bank. . . The sale we went to was for used wedding gowns They called them previously loved, but truthfully, they were just old used gowns, that were $150 and up. Some were up to $3000. . Most of the gowns needed cleaning and repairs before they could be worn. This sale was advertised and the local newspaper did a few interviews of brides who planned to go. One of the young women who was interviewed said she doesn't have many occasions to wear a dress. But, for her wedding she wanted a mermaid dress with a short train. This isn't too much for a young bride to ask for. I saw her at the wedding gown sale. She tried on a gown that was old, yellowed and the lace was puckered. Her mom was telling her it would work, the girl's face said it wouldn't. My heart really went out to her. She just wasn't asking for much. She was my inspiration for starting Teresa's Bridal. I just want all brides to look and feel good on their day. I want every bride to have less financial stress and get the most for their money. If they save money on their gown, maybe they will have enough money for a photographer or honeymoon. So, I'm basically a woman on a mission. When I say I want every bride to have a great dress, I mean it. I have dresses from size 2 - 28W. Ballgown, mermaid, with and without trains. Just a good overall variety of gowns at the absolute lowest price I can offer them. Usually sizes 18-28 cost about $50 more, This makes sense, it takes more materials, more labor, more shipping costs. When I can offer a great gown at the same price for all sizes I am thrilled. This makes me just really happy and I hope to make a lot of brides happy. That's the goal.. . OH. I called the newspaper to contact the girl in the interview, I want to donate a gown to her. However, the newspaper couldn't locate her. So.... if you are out there call me. Teresa. . We donate a portion of every sale to Wounded Warriors. This is an organization and a cause that is very close to my heart. Our son and son-in-law both served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have met a lof of our soldiers and I am so very proud of each and every one of them. For all of those who have served, you have our gratitude.
