Pada saat Sunan Kalijaga berdiam di sana, dia sering berendam di sungai (kali), atau jaga kali. Dalam satu riwayat, Sunan Kalijaga disebutkan menikah dengan Dewi Saroh binti Maulana Ishak, dan mempunyai 3 putra: R. Umar Said (Sunan Muria), Dewi Rakayuh dan Dewi Sofiah.
