Detailed description is Stewards of the Game is a faith-driven youth sports league designed to teach young people valuable, faith-based “life lessons” through sports. An exciting and unique youth sports organization, designed to serve kids in the Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville communities. The cornerstone of this organization is our shared passion and belief that a first-rate, properly focused sports program can make a huge difference in kids' lives. Stewards of the Game will help build strong character in our young people, thereby paving the way for them to become leaders in their community, as well as role models for the next generation of kids. Our vision for Stewards of the Game incorporates three pivotal philosophies:. . 1. Life Lessons: We will use youth sports to teach valuable, faith-based "life lessons" by demonstrating and reinforcing sound values such as integrity, teamwork, respect, and plain old-fashioned hard work. Our focus will be to redirect the natural competitiveness of youth sports in a manner that teaches kids to win with humility and to lose with dignity. In Stewards of the Game leagues, winning will be defined by giving one's best possible effort and not necessarily by the final score.. . 2.Fundamentals: Teaching sound, age-appropriate fundamentals is a key trademark of our organization. In our view, there are no shortcuts to excellence. Therefore, we will strive to build a solid fundamental foundation in every kid, beginning with the basic skills and then moving to more advanced concepts only after these building blocks are in place. Periodic clinics conducted by some of the areas top coaches will ensure that all of our coaches are well versed on the proper techniques and teaching methodologies of the game.. . 3. Community: We feel strongly that every child's youth sports experience can be enhanced by playing with kids from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. To promote this community spirit, Stewards of the Game teams will be encouraged to have a mix of players from the various towns we serve. We believe if kids from different towns and backgrounds play together as youngsters, they will be better prepared to live together as adults.
