Detailed description is . Station Den Haag Centraal is het centraal station van Den Haag. Den Haag Centraal is met twaalf sporen het grootste kopstation van Nederland. Het werd geopend in 1973 net naast het oude station Den Haag Staatsspoor.Doorgaande treinen tussen Amsterdam en Rotterdam, waaronder die van het nachtnet, maar niet de internationale treindienst Thalys, komen langs Den Haag. Ze komen echter niet langs Den Haag Centraal en stoppen alleen op Den Haag HS. De treinen van en naar Leiden en Amsterdam die Den Haag als begin- of eindpunt hebben, komen in Den Haag Centraal en niet langs HS. Hierdoor is voor veel reizigers een enigszins onpraktische situatie ontstaan: komend uit het zuiden moeten ze goed weten of ze in HS of in Centraal moeten overstappen; komend uit het noorden kunnen ze soms het beste al in Leiden overstappen. De huidige infrastructuur laat nauwelijks toe dat treinen van Leiden naar Rotterdam via Den Haag Centraal rijden. Alleen de sporen 6 en 7 zijn uit alle richtingen bereikbaar, waarbij een groot aantal sporen moet worden gekruist.Sinds 29 mei 2000 wordt het station door NS niet meer aangeduid als Den Haag CS, maar als Den Haag Centraal.
