Detailed description is We are a community of believers founded and centered on the Person of Christ, consciously choosing to live the vision of our Patron Saint, St. Luke (as proclaimed in Luke/Acts). St. Luke’s Parish started in 1964 under the guidance of Fr. Denis Fleming. The Church was dedicated on June 16, 1968 by Reverend Paul O’Byrne who later became Bishop of the Calgary Diocese. Architects for the church were Cohos, Delasalle and Evamy. The parish originally served a congregation of 650 families. By 1980, at which time the parish centre and office complex were added, the number of registered families had increased to 2000. In 2003, with 3181 registered families, diocesan approval was obtained for a renovation & addition project which was completed in 2005.. . Our original church:. *Unique design, solid concrete walls, natural lighting. *Simple white dolomite block altar. *Tabernacle, candle holders, light fixtures and door handles in sculptured iron work. *12 concrete pillars represent the 12 apostles. *Stained glass windows represent the cosmos and our God of the universe. . Our newly renovated church:. *Maintains many of the original features. *Focuses on our patron, St. Luke, physician and champion of the poor. *Carved, wooden statue of St. Luke in the narthex. *Granite and glass baptismal font stands in the entrance of the worship area. *Altar, lectern and ambo in natural oak matching the original (refinished) pews. *Original (refinished) pews and candle holders refinished in polished brass. *Blessed Sacrament Chapel for private adoration and prayer hall, meeting rooms, office, gathering space, worship area all designed to realize our vision as the community of believers of St. Luke’s Parish
