While transferring the idol from Rayalaseema (Where it is carved out) to Karnataka-Maharashtra border, people carrying the idol on the carts decided to have a break to get refresh, in the premise of Sri Mallikarjuna swamy temple near Raikode village. When they tried to resume the journey, the cart carrying Sri Veerabhadra swamy idol did not move at all, they tried without any success. After a while as it was getting dark in the evening, they decided to stay there rest of the night and planned to resume the journey next day morning. It is said that, Sri Veerabhadra swamy did appear in dreams of these people carrying the idol and also two few of the villagers, and expressed his will to reside in the location forever.
