Detailed description is Founded in 1992 by Pat Bishop, SPURS is one of the oldest therapeutic riding centers in South Dakota. In 1996, SPURS moved to 40 acres northeast of Aberdeen, SD. Therapeutic riding is the core of our program. Instructors, with trained volunteers, assisted riders to achieve goals, acquire horsemanship skills, and establish a special bond with their equine partner. Hippotherapy, "treatment with the help of a horse," is carried out by licensed pediatric physical therapists and specially trained instructors who use the horse to achieve improved client functioning and rehabilitation, utilizing the three dimensional movement of the horse.. .
