After much encouragement from friends and family and catering their slow smoked meats for the last two years they opened Southwest Pit BBQ in August 2010 at the corner of 16th & P St.. . Scott discovered his love of BBQ while living in Arizona, where her learned to smoke meat from a longtime restaurateur. With his love for BBQ Scott slow smokes all of his meats daily on-site. As Scott loves to say, “We are always smoking at The Pitâ€. He smokes his meats over hickory and all his sides & soups are homemade daily.
