Detailed description is South Davidson High is located near Denton, North Carolina. South's points of pride are: Meeting Acceptable Yearly Progress under Federal No Child Left Behind Act for 2003–04, 2004–05, and 2005–06. They have been nicknamed the Wildcats. They are adjoined to South Davidson Middle School.HistorySouth Davidson High School started originally as Denton High School. Denton High School started in 1929, as part of a plan to bring a public high school to southern Davidson County. Denton Elementary School now stands where the old high school was in the 1920s. Denton High School remained in the town of Denton, NC until 1988. Due to being outdated and overcrowded the building was changed to an elementary school, and a new high school was built one mile north of town to its current location, and opened in 1989. It was named South Davidson High School. When the new high school opened, Silver Valley Elementary which was a feeder school for nearby Central Davidson High School, became a feeder school for South in addition to Denton.
