Detailed description is Solid Rock Church and Fellowship Christian School are hosting an area-wide food bank for ANYONE in need! No one should go hungry! Amen!. +Open every 3rd Sat ✞Deuteronomy 15:11✞. This Food Bank is a ministry of Solid Rock Church, Pastors Dave and Donna Cash thru, and by, and because of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It began almost 20 years ago in a small closet, and what used to take all day and into the night has now grown into one of the largest church run food banks in Central Va. The folks who run it now have streamlined it, so it takes only 5 hours. This food bank serves OVER 150 families, an estimated 600 people a week, and more on the major distribution day. God has truly blessed this small congregation of believers to be able to do this, because without Him it could not have been done. Praise the Lord for His blessings that will continue it. "Managers" Tina Wilson and Vickie Williams., and their handful of volunteers ( Pat, Hope, Robin, Paul, Lenny, Dana Martin, Mike and Anne Ford Duff, , Diana, Marie, Debbie, and there are some who are missing from the album so far) give VERY GENEROUSLY of their time, the pantry is open twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-12, but that's just when the food is distributed. There's just so much more to it. 5 days a week, Mike goes to 2 grocery stores (Food Lion and Kroger) and 1 day a week to Walmart. (Vickie goes 2 days a week, Saturday and Sunday) He brings it back to the church, weighs it, records it, and Tina, Vickie, and their helpers date, rotate and stock it. Wednesdays and Fridays, bread, cakes/desserts, fresh vegetables and fruit are distributed. Third Saturday of every month is the big distribution where folks get a basket full of food. On the big distribution days, Tina, Vickie, Pat, Hope, Robin, Paul, Lenny, Dana, Anne, Mike, Diana, Marie, Ella and Sarah and Debbie, and now me...(oh and there's paperwork involved too!! (folks fill out a paper of how many in family and ages, because we provide baby/childrens items too) It's just a well oiled machine! Praise the Lord for folks who do this, just out of LOVE for other people, no pay and no gain to them, no matter race, gender, age, saved or not, members of the church or not, if they are hungry they can come here to get food. Tina and Vickie even do true emergency cases, they never turn anyone away.. ✞Deuteronomy 15:11 There will always be poor people in the land.
