Detailed description is Located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, just west of Pikes Peak, is a beautiful place called Solid Rock Camp and Retreat Center.
It consists of about 70 acres of hills, trees, and interesting rock formations, a perfect place to get away and meet with Solid Rock Camp and Retreat Center began way back in 1958 under the name Camp Iana.
The original camp property consisted of 22 acres.
Joe Gianesin of the American Sunday School Union (later American Missionary Fellowship) saw the need for a camp in the area to serve small rural and small- town churches in southern Colorado.
An association of these churches was put together to support, participate in, and eventually own the camp.
Facilities were built, and for decades, the camp served to impact the lives of many young people for Christ.
In the late 1990's, an additional adjoining 45 acre parcel and a couple of small connecting parcels were purchased from the developers of the Arabian Acres subdivision to the east of the camp.
This includes many beautiful rock formations, including the high point of the property at 9114 feet above sea level.

For the next decade a period of decline began and camp operations ceased.
Finally, in about 2007, a decision by the remaining members of the association was made to donate the camp to a worthy ministry organization and disband the association.
Proposals were solicited.
Among them was one from a nearby association church, Little Chapel of the Hills in Divide, Colorado; less than five miles away from the camp.
The proposal was to use the camp for local outreach, and to restore a vibrant camping and retreat ministry.
This proposal was accepted.
In 2008, it was relaunched as Solid Rock Camp and Retreat Center.
Lord willing, we plan to have camps for 8- to 18-year-olds up and running during the summer of 2013.
