Detailed description is The official page of Sigma Chi - Epsilon Tau Chapter at Murray State University. Founded nationally in 1855 and here at Murray State in 1959. Originally founded as Delta Alpha by a group of young men here at Murray State in 1948, after ten years, they began to seek a petition to join the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Officially chartered on April 25th, 1959 as the Epsilon Tau chapter, the next 50+ years have produced nothing but the best men on Murray State's campus. . . With numerous Peterson Awards, the Epsilon Tau Chapter has been recognized as one of the best Sigma Chi chapters across the country. We are forever indebted to our great alumni base who provide great support to the chapter. Significant alumni include former Murray State President Tim Miller, and beneficiary/namesake of two buildings on campus Arthur Bauernfeind, as well as many others. . . The Sigma Chi Fraternity's philanthropic efforts go towards the Jon Hunstman Cancer Foundation. Nationally, over $2.3 million has been raised by Sigma Chi since 2005. Each year the Epsilon Tau Chapter hosts it's annual Derby Day's week raising money towards this cause. . . Currently the chapter is around 50+ brothers, which while small compared to other organizations on campus, allows us to have the best brotherhood of any fraternity. Our chapter house, finished in 1996 has a capacity of 23 brothers and includes a full kitchen, TV room, and library..
