In March of 2013 our dream came true.
We purchased our farm house and 26 acres.
The name Shady Oaks Farm came to us as we were discussing the attributes of the property.
There are oak trees everywhere on the property.
We knew immediately that was our farm name..

With our current herd of Boer goats we have gone through several kidding’s, dealt with all kinds of issues from miscarriages to weak kids.
We give all of our own vaccinations, medications, castrating, & hoof trimming ourselves.
Joy has built a database allowing us to track all interactions with the goats & animals, including medications, regular care, breeding and kidding..

Our hogs are all pasture raised and graze with the other animals.
Our current sow and boar are as loving and friendly as any dog you have met..

All animals are grass fed, we are currently in the process of setting up rotational grazing for the herd.
During the winter months we offer fodder and hay due to lack of green pasture available.
Currently this is being grown in the back room of the house but Steve has been working to setup a separate room allowing us to automate the process.
When the room is complete we will be able to offer 200 lbs of fresh fodder daily to our herd..

All meats are processed at a local USDA facility and come vacuum sealed.
