Selin Melek Aktan is an established artist and Apeiron artplus gallery owner from Istanbul- Turkey. .She . graduated from medical school in Turkey and finished London College of Fashion in England.She followed her first passion, art,rather than medicine.. Aktan has exhibited work in her hometown Istanbul and across the globe in NewYork, LosAngeles, Miami, Paris ,Vienna, Zurich, Greece,Bulgaria,Poland , Italy ,Denmark and Egypt.. She has a book of poetry published in 2008 and each of her poems is . acompanied by a relevant painting.. She composed the music and wrote songs and published her first music album which call'' I whisper to the winds''in 2010 and ''Everything is like joke'' in 2012 to support education projects for poor children in Turkey.. She was curator and counselar for 2.International Tepecik culture and art fest to create art park .. ,She open Apeiron Artplus Gallery in Istanbul december 2011.. Of her artistic inspiration she says, “I am a very independent person and probably my paintings are too. I don’t paint because of the trend, or mode, I paint because something or somebody fascinates me. It could be nature, a face, a story, an event, colors (especially, I adore strong colors ), a song, an object, my feelings, my thoughts, my dreams: never ending possibilities of improbability. I definitely love beauty. I am trying to express my personal sense of beauty and truth in my paintings.So every painting is different. There is not only one style in which I like to work .I traveled to the four corners of the earth, and each place I visited added to my desire for unique artistic expression.Wherever I went, I found new influences directing my brush strokes or guiding my hands as I worked at my paintings or sculptures.’’. Ailesinin arzusu üzerine tıp fakültesine giren ve Cerrrahpaşa tıp fakültesindeki tıp eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra Londra'ya giderek, sanata yakın olmak arzusu ile London College moda tasarımı bölümünü bitiren Selin Melek Aktan insan figürü ağırlıklı ilk heykel sergisini 2003 de USA da gerçekleştirdi.. Evini dekore etmek amacı ile hazırladığı resimleri gören Belçikalı bir sanat galerisi sahibinin sergi teklifi ile bu konudaki çalışmalarını ciddiye almaya başladı.. Yurt dışında ülkemi temsil edeceksem resimlerime kendi kültürümüzden birşeyler katmalıyım diye düşündü ve anadolu motifleriyle renklerinden esinlenerek hazırladığı ilk ''Orientalpopart Koleksiyonu''nu Yunanistan'da sergiledi.. 2004 yılında aynı koleksiyonla İsviçre’de Zurih Art Show’un en avangard sanatçısı seçildi.. Türk hat sanatından esinlenerek hazırladığı ''Dansçılar Koleksiyonu'' ve folklorik öğelerin yer aldığı ''Orientalpopart Koleksiyonu, iki kere Paris'te, Dünya'nın yaradılış efsanesini anlattığı soyut çalışmalarından oluşan ''Evoluation'' serisi 2006 da NewYork 'da sergilendi.. . Daha sonra çeşitli defalar eserlerini Bulgaristan,Isviçre,Fransa, Yunanistan,Danimarka, Italya,Polonya,Kosova,Mısır,Hindistan ve Çin'de Amerika'da ise LosAngeles ve NewYork,Miami' de sergileyen Aktan,2008 yılında Avusturya'ya onur sanatçısı olarak davet edildi ve resimleri Salvador Dali'nin heykelleri ile birlikte yer aldı. . . Aynı yıl aşkın çeşitli evrelerinden yola çıkarak yazdığı ''AŞK SELİNDE UÇUŞAN MELEKLER ''isimli resimli şiir kitabını yayınladı,kitap halen ÇYDD yararına satılmaktadır. . Aktan'ın eserleri 2009 yılında Amerika ve İtalya'da müzeye alındı.. . Aynı yıl ''Sanat Anadolu'nun her yerinde olmalıdır ve İstanbul'daki sanatçılar da Anadolu'ya gitmelidir ''diyerek Eskişehir'de bir sergi açtı ve herkesi ''Gökkuşağıyla yazılan masallar ''isimli sergisi ile aynı gökkuşağının altında barış içinde yaşamaya davet etti.. . Osmangazi Tıp Fakültesinde doktorlar sanat ve sağlık projesini başlattı.. 2010 yılında 2.Aydın Tepecik kültür ve sanat festivalinin kuratörlüğünü üstlenen Aktan aynı zamanda Sanat Barış Parkı'nın proje danışmanlığını yürütmüştür.. . Selin Melek Aktan''ın Türkiye'deki eğitim projelerini desteklemek amacı ile 2010 ve 2012 yıllarında çıkardığı,söz ve müziği kendisine ait eserlerden oluşan''Rüzgarlara Fısıldadım''ve ''Şaka Gibi Herşey'' isimli iki müzik albümü vardır.. 2010 yılında . Apeiron Artplus Galeri isimli sanat platformunu kuran . Selin Melek Aktan ,aynı zamanda Amerika'daki Museum Of the Americas'ın Türkiye temsilcisi olup,müzenin artist danışma kurulundadır..
