İlkokulu doğduğum kasaba Bulanık’ta, ortaokulu Adapazarı’nda, liseyi ise yatılı olarak babamın ısrarı üzerine İstanbul Haydarpaşa Lisesi’nde okudum. Yüksek öğrenimi ise İstanbul Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi’nde tamamlayarak 1975 yılında mezun oldum. Öğrencilik hayatım süresince hep çalışarak okudum.. . Siyasi Hayatım ;. . • 1967 yılında lise eğitimimi bitirip, 18 yaşına girdiğim günlerde CHP gençlik kollarında siyasete başladım. . • 1975-1977 arası Kadıköy İlçe yönetim kurulu üyeliği, . • 1977-1980 İstanbul İl Genel Meclis üyeliği, . • 1983 SODEP Kadıköy İlçe kuruluşunda bulundum. . • 1984-1989 arası Kadıköy Belediyesi SHP meclis üyesi ve grup sözcüsü, . • 1989-1994 arası Kadıköy Belediye Meclis üyesi ve Belediye Başkan yardımcısı ve vekili olarak görev yaptım. . • 1994 yılında seçilmiş bulunduğum Belediye Başkanlığı görevim 1999 ve 2004 yerel seçimlerinde de sizlerin güveniyle 2009’a taşındı. . . . Aile Hayatım ;. . Eşim Sevgi, mesleğini birlikte açmış bulunduğumuz avukatlık bürosunda, yine avukat olan gelinimiz Burcu ile sürdürmektedir. 1989 yılına kadar yapmış bulunduğum avukatlık görevimi fiilen yürütemiyorum ancak İstanbul Barosuna hala kayıtlı durumdayım.. Oğlum Cem, Hukuk Fakültesi mezunu olup, ticaret yapmakta; kızım Sinem, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi mezunu olup, mesleğini sürdürmektedir. . Ada Ceyla ve Eda Meyra isimli iki torunum var ve onlarla vakit geçirmeyi hiçbir şeye değişmem.. Biri evde, ikisi bahçede olmak üzere üç köpeğim ve iki papağanım var. . . Teknolojiyi iyi kullanan, sağlığı için spor yapan, güncel kitapları okumayı ve araba kullanmayı seven biriyim. Kadıköy’deki bütün sosyal kulüplere ve Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübüne üyeyim.. .
