We are the largest school of our kind, and we offer the most comprehensive suite of qualifications in communication, journalism and marketing, not only in the country, but in the region. Our faculty and staff have outstanding international reputations in all core portfolios of the school.. . Massey University's communication and marketing programmes date from the 1970s and ever since, have provided national leadership in education and research in their respective fields. The communication programme at Massey University dates from 1979 with the launch of New Zealand's first university-level communication course in organisational communication. Massey University provided New Zealand's first university-level communication management programme, and the first university-level courses in Organisational Communication, Business Communication, and Public Relations. Since then, Massey communication staff have taken the lead nationally in developing research-led communication and journalism studies at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.. . From 2000, following the merger between Massey University and the Wellington Polytechnic, the communication programmes were enhanced by the Polytechnic's long and successful record of teaching journalism. Massey University's journalism teaching is now internationally acclaimed and enjoys a close working relationship with the industry.
