SCGuardFit is a program that was initiated by the SCNG Health & Wellness Program in 2014. The program is designed to assist Service Members, Family Members, & Retirees in “navigating the pathway to a healthy lifestyle” through physical fitness. Physical fitness is paramount in not only a Service Member’s military career but it also has a significant impact on life outside of the military. It is well known that individuals that maintain a high degree of physical fitness tend to have a more positive outlook on life, are less prone to injury and are less susceptible to illness. These facts led the SCNG Health & Wellness Program to developing SCGuardFit.. . Four parts. - Workout of the Day (WOD). - Journal. - Training. - Partnership. . WODs . WODs are based off of the Army’s Physical Readiness Training (PRT) exercises which focus primarily on body weight exercises. This provides a significant convenience to all SCGuardFit participants, there is little to no equipment to buy! There are three WODs that are provided on a daily basis (Mon-Fri) and one challenge WOD that will be posted monthly: . . - Toughening: Designed for personnel in the remedial PT population . (APFT Score: 0-179) (AFPT Score: 0-74). - Sustaining: Designed for personnel in the average PT population . (APFT Score: 180-239) (AFPT Score: 75-89). - Advanced: Designed for personnel in the above average PT population . (APFT Score: 240-300) (AFPT Score: 90-100). - Challenge: Designed to challenge personnel’s physical and mental strength and stamina. . SCGuardFit Journal . The Journal is an information portal. Information on physical activity, nutrition, and sleep will be provided to assist in helping individuals lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the SCGuardFit Journal provides proven APFT Preparation Plans, a SCGuardFit WOD tracker, and exercise substitutions.. . Training . The Training section of SCGuardFit advertises Health & Wellness Fairs, Fitness Trainer Assistant Courses, and SCGuardFit Seminars. . - Health & Wellness Fairs: a community of health and wellness professionals come together to advocate and/or provide health and wellness services. - Fitness Trainer Assistant Course: a course offered to teach Service Members, Family Members, and Retirees about physical activity, nutrition, and sleep. - SCGuardFit Seminars: a course offered to units within the SCNG that includes an WOD, a short briefing, and the opportunity for Service Members to meet one-on-one with a Health and Wellness Coach. .
