in 1924, is an active social club with beautiful facilities and grounds available for indoor and outdoor functions.
The Scandinavian Athletic Club was incorporated in 1924 to field soccer teams of primarily men of Scandinavian descent (Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, and Icelandic).
Land was purchased in Shrewsbury; fields were cleared and plowed for soccer pitches.
A pavilion with an unparalleled timber dome ceiling was built to host weekend dances, cookouts, and socials.
In those early days Worcester boasted a population of close to 20% Swedes, many of whom were employed as machinists or skilled laborers at local plants like Norton Company and US Steel.
