Quem frequenta o clube hoje, talvez nem se lembre de que foi fundado por funcionários da Clínica Psiquiátrica Antônio Luiz Sayão e por moradores do Jardim Nova Araras.
Muito menos que por quase 10 anos não tinha uma sede própria.
Havia apenas a instituição Sayão Futebol Clube, nome dado a um time de futebol amador, que disputava torneios e mandava seus jogos no campo que ficava dentro da clínica..
Em 7 de janeiro de 1963, reunião no prédio do então Sanatório Antônio Luiz Sayão, nascia o clube de futebol que tinha por objetivo “representar condignamente o populoso bairro Jardim Nova Araras”.
O primeiro presidente, João Assis Sobrinho, que ocupou o cargo de forma provisória, pediu que os presentes opinassem a respeito do novo time, que foi aprovado por unanimidade.
Emerson Mercatelli, eleito no mesmo dia vice-presidente, sugeriu o nome que carrega até hoje, não apenas como homenagem ao hospital psiquiátrico, mas pela instituição possuir “magnífica praça de esporte que poderia ser cedida ao novo clube para nela praticar o futebol”..
Segundo o atual presidente (mandato até dezembro de 2013) e ainda funcionário de longa data da clínica, Gilberto Carminatti, o terreno para construção da sede do clube só foi adquirido em 1972.
“Parte do dinheiro foi arrecadada com as vendas no bazar da clínica e o restante era de colaboração dos funcionários de lá, com descontos na folha de pagamento”, recorda..
Em meados de 1975 foi inaugurado o antigo salão social.
