It is located in southeastern Saskatchewan and is within SARM Division No. 1 and Census Division No. 1. Its population was 1,051 as of the 2006 Census. The city of Estevan is located within the rural municipality but is considered to be a separate municipal jurisdiction. In addition, located adjacent to the RM are the independent Town of Bienfait and the independent Village of Roche Percee, both lying on the eastern border of the RM.
