Detailed description is The after school program provides a safe environment for children to enhance their academic learning with a focus in cultural enrichment and wellness. Winter Session:. . Corinna School:. . Monday: “JUMP” Program: (Grades 3-5)-- In each individual session of this eight session program, students will do physical activities, explore nutrition, food groups and food safety by playing games, creating special snacks, and having FUN!! This program starts January 13th and goes for eight weeks ending in the month of March. Space is limited to 15 students.. . Monday: Visual Arts: (Grades 4-5)--Ms. Lemieux is continuing to inspire students through the visual arts. She will be bringing new art projects to this session for students! Students will be able to express “Who They Are” and also receive homework help. . . Monday: Smart Board Fun: (Grades K-2)-- Ms. Kingsbury and Ms. Dionne are working together to bring some interactive fun with our new smart board to our younger students. Class will fill up fast with a limited space of 15 students. . . Tuesday: Creative Spaces : Art (Grades 3-4)--Ms Lemieux brings her creative and talent to students. She will help students develop personal skills and growth through the creative process. Join us in creating “Creative Spaces” in art.. . Wednesday: 4H: Cloverbuds (Grades K-4)--Ms Elwell and Ms Deraps will be continuing our successful 4-H Cloverbuds program. New students are always welcome to sign up and join the fun! . Wednesday: Moving With the Stars: Fitness (Grades K-4) Coach Dionne wants to challenge all of our “STAR” students to be more physically fit with fun and exciting games. Fitness is fun with our Move-it-Minutes! Family members and friends are welcome to join in our one extra hour of physical activity challenge! . . Thursday: Artistic Masterpieces: (Grades K-2) Students find joy in producing many different masterpieces to take home and cover their refrigerators and walls! Thursday: Technology Club: Successmaker (Grades 1-4) “Practice makes Perfect” become more successful in Reading and Math with Ms Kingsbury and the Technology club. If you child participated in the first session, they we encourage them to sign up again for this session. Drama for Grades 1 & 2 (limit 20): Mrs. LaPrade & Miss Anderson will be offering a Fairy Tale drama class for students in grades 1 & 2 for ten weeks. After School Jump Program for Grades 3-5 (limit 20): We are very excited to be having a nutritionist, Gail Cardarell with us for this program. Cooking for Girls-Grade 3 on Mondays/Grade 4 Girls on Thursdays: Mrs. Dunivan and Ms. Emerson will are ready to start cooking it up at the Newport Elementary School for grade 3 girls on Mondays. Mrs. Dunivan and Mrs. Hawthorne will be teaching the grade 4 girls. This program will teach students the basics of cooking and nutrition while still having fun. Students will improve their math skills with ingredient measurements, gain confidence with safety in the kitchen, and of course teamwork! . . “I’M ALL SHOOK UP”: DANCE PROGRAM: Dance with Ms. AJ Mooney for grades 3-5: Ms AJ Mooney is a trained dance instructor, and she is going to begin a new session of dance lessons on Wednesday, January 15th. The A.C.H.E.V.E. dance program is planned to run for 10 sessions plus a performance at the end of the program. This year’s theme is the King of Rock ad Roll himself . . Elvis Presley. The class is open to beginning students as well as those with some dance background. Mrs. Fredette will be assisting Ms. Mooney with this program.. *There is a $20.00 fee for this course in order to buy t-shirts for the performance, snacks, and a thank you for the instructor! Afternoon Adventure for Grades 1 & 2 (limit 25): Mr. King & Mr. Robinson will be holding an afternoon adventure club for students in grades 1 & 2. This session will be held on Mondays for eight weeks, January 6 – March 10. Students will be playing lots of “heart healthy” games such as tagging games, basketball activities, and really recess to name a few. Due to Maine winter weather changing so raidly, parents are asked to have their children prepared to be inside as well as outside for some of these activities.
