Detailed description is Rosie Crow is a dark-pop musician, vocalist and producer based in Cornwall. Rosie The Crow are a British 3 piece band formed of singer (+keys and bass) Rosie Crow, guitarist Todd Barden and drummer Layla Astley. They are signed to Cornish label Ra Ra Co Co and their debut album “Weirdiful” is due for released on 9th February 2018.. . Career: . . Crow, Barden and Astley all played with other bands before forming ‘Rosie The Crow’ in 2017. Previously Barden and Astley had supported Crow with the solo release of her self-titled debut album in 2016 before they all had a meeting in some woods, became a three piece and settled on a name that sounded like it could be a character in a Philip Pullman novel. . . Crow: . . Born into a musical family, after studying music at Roehampton University, Rosie Crow (nee Rosie Vanier) started electro pop outfit ‘Rosie and The Goldbug’ in 2007. Signed to Lover Records, The Goldbug went on to tour Europe and the US with various acts that included Cyndi Lauper. The Goldbug were working with producers including Dan Carey and Jim Eliot before their split in 2009. Crow then continued her career working on a project based in NYC with Pete Wentz with S*A*M and Sluggo, before embarking on a solo career. Crow released her highly acclaimed solo album in 2016. The album went on to receive excellent reviews including GQs album of the month who proclaimed Crow was the “best thing to come out of Cornwall since Poldark”. . . Barden: . . Penzance Ice cream man Todd Barden is a graduate of the Guitar Institute and has previously played in a number of bands including ‘Unit 13’, ‘The Small Town Doggers’ and controversial (and often highly offensive) Cornish band ‘Bugga’. Often considered underground and renegade, Barden has influenced a number of guitarists including Micky Smith (Ben Howard and ‘A Blaze of Feather’) who he basically taught and mentored. Barden met Crow by chance in a Sainsbury’s café in early 2016; he ordered a donut and a cup of tea. . . Astley: . . Born into a family of musicians (Edwin Astley, Jon Astley and Pete Townshend) it was a surprise when Astley decided to study Marine Science at University. Having played in London based band Simplicity from 1996-2001, Astley was signed as a composer and solo artist to Universal Records in 2003-2007. Mentored by Tony Swain, Astley went on to write and record with a number of artists and producers including X-factor composers Ed and Henry Johnson and Grammy nominated Ali Thomson. Astley met Crow in a field in Bodmin; Crow was wearing a gold cat suit. . .
