BJJ ist ein in Brasilien entsprungener Kampfsport (Weiterentwicklung von traditionellem, japanischem Jiu-Jitsu und Judo) und die effektivste Art, sich in einer Zweikampfsituation zu behaupten.. . . Dies wurde anhand unzähliger „Challenge Matches“ (Regellose Faustkämpfe in den Hinterhöfen Brasiliens) und später in Amerika durch Gründung der UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) bewiesen. BJJ ist somit die "Mutter der MMA" (Mixed Martial Arts). Die Idee ist es, den Kampf auf den Boden zu verlagern, denn dort gelten andere Gesetze. Ein Boxer oder Straßenschläger ist wehrlos, sobald er sich nicht mehr auf seinen Beinen befindet. Wir lernen, wie man den Kampf sicher und effektiv auf den Boden verlagert und dort mithilfe des richtige Einsatzes von Schwerkraft und Hebelgesetzen mit Leichtigkeit seinen Angreifer außer Gefecht setzen kann. Der Bodenkampf, auf welchen sich BJJ spezialisiert, stellt die effektivste und sicherste Art und Weise dar, sich gegen stärkere, athletischere Angreifer zur Wehr zu setzen.. . . Unter Sparring versteht man im Jiu-Jitsu ein auf Technik beruhendes Rangeln oder Raufen - ohne dass Schläge und Tritte fallen. Die Komplexität der Sportart wird einem erst bewusst, wenn man dies am eigenen Leib erfahren durfte. BJJ auch oft als „Human Chess“ beschrieben. Ein Schachspiel auf physischer Ebene.. .
