The group is well represented for the diverse values that Roebuck Bay holds, with Yawuru custodians, ornithologists and naturalists,landholders, NGO’s, industry and government actively participating in the group. . . Recognising that Roebuck Bay was without management plans to protect its high values into the future, RBWG formed with the objective of developing values-based community driven plans to protect, restore and maintain the Ramsar site and catchment into the future. The group has developed seven management plans for community, agency and land manager’s use. . . The signing of an Indigenous Land Use Agreement between the Yawuru native title holders and the WA Government in 2010 resulted in the creation of Roebuck Bay coastal conservation estate and a proposed Roebuck Bay Marine Park. The estate is being jointly managed by Nyamba Yawuru Buru, Department of Parks and Wildlife and Shire of Broome for the purposes of conservation, recreation and customary Aboriginal use and enjoyment. . .
