As a young couple, we were completely sold on the “American” way of life—“Borrow money to make money,” “Work for the weekend,” “You can only afford two children,” “Do the drudge work now so you can retire at 65 and then do whatever you want,” “You can’t succeed without a college degree,” and “You are the center of the universe.” We also ate SAD food—the Standard American Diet of low fat, highly processed, devitalized “food” and whatever the medical specialists happened to think was healthy in the moment..

It has taken us some 23 years and many baby steps, along with some leaps, to move away from this inherited “wisdom” and become free to do what we want.
