Reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation and career success. So, by volunteering on a weekly basis with students at school, volunteers will:. . • Help children improve their reading skills, and in turn, impact their future. • Become a positive influence in the life of a child as a mentor. • Engage in the effort to build a stronger community. .
