Detailed description is Powerful Divas with a Purpose is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization making an impact on the community by assisting cancer survivors with financial stability. Powerful Divas with a Purpose is female non-profit organization formed on July, 2014 by Chairperson & CEO Carla M. Gibson to promote better unity between women owned businesses while assisting with charitable causes in our area.. . On July 19, 2014 we hosted our first "Health and Wellness" event. This event allowed various women owned small businesses to come together in the community and display their products, share health and, financial tips while networking and meeting goals.. . On Saturday, October 31, 2015 we are hosting our first "Fifty Shades of Pink" event to educate and promote awareness for early detection of breast cancer as well as other forms of cancer. Funds will be donated to aid in furthering cancer research. As a breast cancer survivor herself, Carla M. Gibson has emotional ties to this project as she too has been involved in the fight and feel that early detection is the key .. . Our goal is to continue to educate and expand charitable giving to organizations throughout the Metropolitan Washington area, while instilling values and hope to not only the youth, but adults via programs, seminars, fundraising and in kind services.. . . .
