Detailed description is Public School Serving the Poteet Texas Area Poteet is located at the junction of farm road 476 and state highway 16, the city of Poteet is twenty miles south of San Antonio in north central Atascosa County.
The city derived it's name in 1886 from the area's blacksmith and first postmaster, Francis Marion Poteet.
