Detailed description is Herzlich Willkommen im Fachbereich Ökologie und Evolution der Universität Salzburg! Der Fokus der Forschungs- und Lehraktivitäten des FB „Ökologie und Evolution“ liegt auf den Organismen, wie sie einander und ihre Umwelt beeinflussen und durch ihre Umwelt beeinflusst werden, sowohl auf kurzfristigen (ökologischen) als auch längerfristigen (evolutionären) Zeitskalen. In Zeiten des globalen Wandels, insbesondere des Klimawandels und der globalen Biodiversitätskrise, sind diese Themen von großer Bedeutung, denn Evolution ist per Definition „die Veränderung der Arten unter wechselnden ökologischen Bedingungen“.. . Die derzeitigen Schwerpunkte innerhalb dieser breiten Rubrik sind die Ökologie von aquatischen und Bodengemeinschaften, Bestäubungsökologie, Systematik und Taxonomie der Protisten als Modellorganismen, der neurobiolgische Hintergrund der Verhaltensökologie der Vögel sowie die Evolution und Biogeographie alpiner Pflanzen. Es werden multidisziplinäre und fächerübergreifende Ansätze verfolgt. Untersucht werden morphologische, physiologische, chemische, entwicklungsbiologische, ökologische, genetische und verhaltensbiologische Merkmale der Organismen, ihre Evolution, Biosystematik und Diversität sowie ihre Interaktionen innerhalb von Lebensgemeinschaften . . Die oben skizzierte Grundlagenforschung schlägt sich entsprechend in der Lehre nieder, eröffnet den Studierenden ein breites Spektrum von Berufsperspektiven und bietet die Möglichkeit, ihnen neben fundierten Grundlagenkenntnissen auch zukunftsorientierte Werkzeuge und Fertigkeiten in die Hand zu geben, Umweltprobleme konstruktiv zu lösen.
