Our small country church is located in a rural area outside(approx.
3 miles east) of Columbus Junction, Iowa, down over a small hill.
It is set in a grove of hickory and oaks on a parcel of land donated in April of 1870 for the life of the church.
It is a small congregation of locals -- several whom have attended Pleasant Grove their entire lives.
Our oldest lifetime member is 93 years old, with other members approximately 70 years young.
They often tell stories about their parents attending this church and bringing them as children..

Our original church burnt down around 1910, with the existing parishioners rebuilding the current church.
A small one room school where some of the members attended was purchased, cut into quarters and hand carried to the location where it now stands.
It is now attached to the church to be used as a fellowship room..

Our Pastor at this time agreed to "fill in" for 6 weeks which has now turned into 6 years.
Pastor Rick drives 40 to 50 minutes to Pleasant Grove Community Church to tend to his flock there and then drives off to another flock to tend about 30 minutes away in another rural church located in Salem, Iowa.

Our Sunday School class holds many opinions, conversations and learning of the Bible, followed by Pastor Rick's message and prayers.
