Detailed description is Playa de Omaha fue el nombre en clave de unos de los principales puntos de desembarco de la invasión aliada de la Francia ocupada por los alemanes en los desembarcos de Normandía del 6 de junio de 1944, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. La playa estaba situada en la costa norte de Francia, frente al Canal de la Mancha, y tenía 8 km de longitud, extendiéndose desde el este de Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes hasta el oeste de Vierville-sur-Mer. Era necesario un desembarco en este lugar para poder enlazar los desembarcos británicos del este con el desembarco estadounidense del oeste, asegurando así la costa de Normandía.
