Detailed description is Inspiring families to play, create, discover and learn by providing unique, collaborative and affordable services. Our mission is to create a community center that is affordable to all and provides unique learning opportunities. It is not a school in the traditional sense but a place where learning is the main focus. It is a place where a parent can walk in find classes and resources that will provide support for what they are teaching at home. We envision clubs, sports teams, and physical activities. We provide frequent social events for the students and their families. It is a place where parents and students can find opportunities to work on things in collaborative group settings which will help them form friendships and learn leadership and interpersonal skills. We provide many opportunities for homeschooled students to present their work in front of other adults and students as a way to build confidence in public speaking.. . We want kids to gain confidence, respect, and a desire to help in their communities. We provide regular service opportunities to students and parents who belong to our community. We try to find service opportunities where students will have a chance to directly interact with the beneficiaries of their service. We believe that children are more likely to internalize the values of selflessness and service when they see the direct benefits of their hard work.. . We want parents and students to be able to find information about the different options available after high school like college admissions information, dual-enrollment, tech schools, and job searches and what a home schooled student can do to improve their chances of achieving their goals. We want to help students not only learn the subject matter and enter college; but we believe it is more important that students master the learning process itself. We encourage them to dig deep into topics that interest them and learn how to research, analyze, and then produce something of value with their new knowledge. We want them to follow this pattern outside of their formal education so that they will continue to follow their passions and become lifelong learners.. . Play Create Discover and Learn is a place where parents and students can find resources to help them in their educational efforts such as collections of educational books and materials, and also tools and supplies available for kids to do projects. This community center would be available 7 days a week to the home school students it serves. The main difference between us and a public school is that the students and parents can pick and choose the services they are interested in. We do not place educational requirements or standards on the families who participate; rather we encourage them to constantly seek learning opportunities and to take ownership of their own education. We differ from other home school communities in Northern Alabama in the way we not only accept people from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds but we seek after them. We want a diverse group of students and teachers because we live in a diverse world and we feel like our students need experience when they are young with people who are different from them so that they may help make this world a kinder and safer place in the future.
