Play and Learn Nursery School is a Child Care Center in Bordentown, NJ. It has maximum capacity of 24 children. . . The center accepts children ages of: 2½ to 6.. . Capacity: 40-45 children total (combined from all classes). . Age Range: 2½ to 6. . Enrolled in Subsidized Child Care Program: No. . Pre-K—Meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to 1pm.. -the 2013-2014 class still has a few spots available currently. . Three Year Olds—Meets Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-11:30 am . Or Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-3:00. --currently we are still enrolling. . Tours—available upon request and are scheduled by appointment only at a mutually convenient time. . Tuition – Tuition payments are due on your child’s first day of attendance each month. Tuition received after the 8th of the month will be charged a $20.00 late fee. Tuition must be made by check or money order and should be made payable to Play and Learn. Cash will not be accepted. All tuition payments must be made regardless of vacation or illnesses. Tuition for the Three Year Old class is $190.00/month. Tuition for the Pre-K class is $332.00/month. Families are responsible for reimbursing the school for any bank fees charges due to insufficient funds.. Registration Fee’s--$75.00 for new families and $50 for returning families. Registration money with the last months’ tuition is due at time of enrollment.. . Arrival and Dismissal – Please wait for the door to be opened at the beginning of each session. You should always accompany your child into the building to be sure that he/she arrived safely. Occasionally we will dismiss the children from the front yard. We ask that if you arrive early for dismissal, and the children are outside playing, please wait at the front of the church building. When the class is dismissed, be sure to enter the yard closing the gate after you. Also, please do not allow children to play in the sandbox at drop off or pick up. This sand box should only be used during school time. Thank you.. The teachers will not release your child to anyone other than those individuals listed on your release form, unless given written notice from you. Also, it is important to arrive on time to take your child from school. It can be upsetting for a child when their parent or caregiver is late for dismissal. If it becomes impossible to arrive at school on time, please call the school to alert the teachers.. . Forms Required:. . Registration Forms must be filled out and signed by the director and parent.. . Medical Records – A Universal Health Record is required for each child by the State of New Jersey and is to be completed by the child's physician. Immunization records are to be attached as well. A separate Medical release form will also need to be completed by the parent and returned. . . Yellow contact information card. . Policies Regarding Health Issues – Please be advised that we are not licensed to dispense medications of any kind. Notify your child’s teacher if your child is going to be absent from school. . . Conferences – Parent conferences will be held twice a year. They are typically scheduled for November and March or April. The purpose of the fall conference is to advise you of your child’s adjustment to school and to share with you any social relationships that have developed. The purpose of the spring conference is to expand on the previous conference and look at growth from the year. Pre-K spring conferences will discuss readiness for Kindergarten. Throughout the year we will keep you informed of your child’s progress. If at any time you have a concern, feel free to request a conference with your child’s teacher either by phone or in person.. . Calendar –The Play and Learn calendar is loosely based on the Bordentown Regional School District calendar. School closings are announced in the monthly newsletter and on the bulletin board. In the event of severe inclement weather parents will be notified about the closing, delay or early dismissal through an emergency contact phone chain. On rare occasions, school may be closed due to a funeral being held in the church. It is the policy of the State that the school must keep doors locked at all times as well as only allow instructors who have been fingerprinted and had background checks performed. During a funeral these policies cannot be met, therefore we must close the school. Notification for funeral closings may happen without much notice, so we ask for special understanding in the event of these occasions. Please note that if the school must be closed more than two days during the school year, additional days may be added.. . Safety Information – The safety of our students is a top priority. The following measures have been enacted:. (a) We are State licensed and follow all the safety regulations mandated for schools with a Certificate of Life/Safety Approval.. (b) We have a 24 hour monitored smoke detection system, and we conduct monthly fire drills. Our fire certificate is located on the bulletin board by the stairwell.. (c) We have an emergency evacuation plan and practice safe departures from various building exits with our students. Our evacuation plan is located by the doorway. Should we need to evacuate the building the parents will be notified through the emergency phone chain. Children will be brought to the church office located at 435 Farnsworth Avenue. If an evacuation of the area is deemed necessary, we will relocate to the Hope Hose Fire Station on 150 W. Burlington Street.. (d) For security purposes, the outer door of our foyer will be locked each day at 9:15 and 12:45. If you arrive late, please ring the bell so a teacher may greet you.. (e) In the event of a lockdown situation we have an emergency room located in the basement. . We do conduct a safety drill with our students to visit this emergency room.. (f) Our teachers are certified in CPR training annually and we keep a first aid kit in the classroom.. . Table of Organization – Each class at Play and Learn has two teachers: a head teacher and an assisting instructor. They are highly qualified, caring professionals who design, implement, and assess instructional plans which foster student learning and development. The Play and Learn classroom is run in accordance to the New Jersey State Department of Education’s Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations: Standard of Quality. A copy of these benchmarks is kept in the classroom and is available to interested parents for review. In addition, our teachers strive to foster strong home-school partnerships. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress, kindly schedule a conference or a phone consultation with our teachers. The Director’s responsibilities include administrative duties such as enrollment transitions, staff supervision/professional development, licensing renewal, tuition collection, and financial record keeping/budgeting. As outlined by the State of New Jersey, the Director must be onsite for 15 operating hours per week. The practices and policies of the Play and Learn Nursery School are overseen by the Board of Play and Learn through the Presbyterian Church.
