Detailed description is Pete's Community Workshed is a not for profit community based workshed and is available for all members of the public to utilise.All work is focused around woodcraft and other similar projects.
The shed began it's life back in 2001 with the vision of Bill Griffiths and close mate Pete Cousens (hence the name Pete's Community Workshed) a need for a place for the young un-employed within the local area,to come and learn some basic handyman and woodcraft skills as a way to build confidence and self esteem and hopefully gain some motivation,empowerment and become employable.With the help of local council,business and community groups they saw their vision become a reality.Before long they were welcoming school groups as well as participants in work placement/mentor programs and disability groups.Pete's Community Workshed survives to this day and is still focusing on woodcraft and handyman skills and regularly receives 100 plus visitors per month.Totally run by a dedicated few volunteers and caters to school,disability/aged care groups,work for the dole participants.We are not gender specific and here for the whole community to access and make use of.We also welcome the opportunity to take on a limited amount of custom work to help raise revenue for day to day expenses.
