Detailed description is Pelletier Family Farms LLC is a family farm that raises meat chickens and produces a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs using organic practices. After becoming parents we became very interested in where our food comes from, how it is grown, and/or how it is processed. We were first concerned with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s). What are GMO’s and why were GMO’s in so much of our food? Once we did our research we were 100% convinced we wanted to avoid feeding our family GMO’s whenever possible! We also quickly became disgusted with the widely accepted conventional methods used in the raising and processing of chicken; chickens are given feed comprised mostly of GMO ingredients and antibiotics, given multiple vaccinations, & live in horrible conditions. Processing and packaging can be so unsanitary that many chemicals, like bleach, are used on and around the meat to keep bacteria levels down. The list of unnatural tricks and practices used to make food look better, last longer, grow bigger, or grow faster goes on and on. . . What we want is simply to feed our family naturally raised food while teaching our children wholesome farming values. That is why we have started Pelletier Family Farms LLC. We WON’T use chemical herbicides/pesticides/fungicides or GMO seeds with the fruits and vegetables we grow. We WON’T feed our chickens antibiotics or GMO feed of any kind. Our chickens will graze on a pasture that is a never ending salad bar. These simple, natural farming practices make the food as safe as possible while tasting much better than the produce and chicken you can find in the grocery store. Just ask our kids! After sharing our idea of naturally growing/raising our own food with family and friends we discovered the number of people who support us and shared in our passion was humbling as well as inspiring.
