A pet guardian since 11 years of age, Jessica has owned and cared for everything from canaries and geckos to rabbits and hamsters to tropical fish and dogs and cats. Jessica is a lifelong animal lover and professional, having worked her first job as a vet assistant for 16 years at and a professional dog trainer and dog daycare manager for 4 years. . . In October 2011 Jessica started and still runs a non profit cat spay and neuter program called CARE (Cat Advocacy Rescue and Education), recruiting veterinarians and Animal Health Technologists to volunteer their time during special events to spay and neuter over 1300 feral, stray and low income owned cats. CARE also has a partnership with Machray Animal Hospital to help cats in need get spayed and neutered.. . Jessica is also a professional pet photographer and painter, she has had 4 separate art exhibits including Strays in 2010 and Shelter in 2011, which both used her photography to raise awareness of situations affecting animal welfare in the City of Winnipeg. These photography exhibits also functioned as fundraisers for DArcys ARC and The Winnipeg Humane Society.. .
