In these long 84th years, this puja has passed through many memorable incidents which must be recalled-up to every person associated with this glorious puja.. . The British had tight hold on India in the early 20th Century. Their oppression and cruelty forced the Indians to rise against them. Then Kolkata took a significant position in India's Freedom Movement against British Rule. The youth of Bengal started conducting various Movement regarding the same. They formed underground societies and clubs. Anushilan Samity was established in 1902 by Satish Chandra Basu. This samity took a great initiative in forming many underground societies in different parts of Kolkata. Likewise PATHURIAGHATA BAYAM SAMITY was founded in the year 1924 by Atul Krishna Ghosh , a renowned Lathi Player and a Freedom Fighter. The activities of PBS were guided by Anushilan Samity. Many well Known leaders were attached with this samity as a Chief Patron. These great persons were Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhay, Jatindranath Mukherjee, Aswini Kumar Bandopadhay and many others.. . The Founder of PATHURIAGHATA BAYAM SAMITY, Atul Krishna Ghosh left for heavenly abode in 1927 at the time of Kali Puja. The members of the samity decided to perform Kali Puja to commemorate Late Atul Krishna Ghosh. Pathuriaghata Sarbojanin Kali Puja started in 1928. The Puja was conducted at 22, Jadulal Mullick Road, Kolkata-700 006 where PATHURIAGHATA BAYAM SAMITY situated. In 1985, this spot was gifted to the samity by Rajendra Nath Mullick, decendent of Jadulal Mullick.. . Kali Puja is not only the function of PBS. The Samity is more concerned with the welfare of the Poor, Needy & Destitute by donating of Clothes, Blankets, Food, Medical Staff and Education Aids. PBS also arrange Drawing competition for the children. Moreover PBS performs Annakut Utsab every year at the time of Kali Puja where more than 7500 people take BHOG-PRASAD for their devotion to Goddess MAA KALI.. .
