The Party in the Parks events were initiated in the summer of 2013 to provide free community arts events in Union Plaza Park.
Party in the Parks was expanded in 2015 to include other free performing and visual arts events in many different Lincoln parks throughout the summer months.
In the fall of 2015, the City of Lincoln received the Nebraska Recreation and Park Association Arts and Humanities Award for the Party in the Parks on Union Plaza events.
