Detailed description is O Parque Metropolitano de Pituaçu, ou simplesmente Parque de Pituaçu, está localizado no bairro de Pituaçu, em Salvador, próximo à orla e à Universidade Católica do Salvador (UCSal). Foi criado por Decreto Estadual nº 23.666 de 4 de setembro de 1973 e pelo Decreto nº 23.113 de 12 de abril de 1978 foi declarada a utilidade pública do terreno para desapropriações, inicialmente com 660 hectares, durante o governo estadual de Roberto Santos.. Está situado na orla marítima e atualmente ocupa 425 hectares, a maior reserva ecológica da cidade de Salvador, Bahia. Nos fins de semana, recebe entre quatro e cinco mil visitantes.Um dos principais pontos da cidade com remanescentes de Mata Atlântica é fonte lazer e turismo para a cidade com sua fauna e flora diversificadas, além da beleza da Lagoa de Pituaçu. Como parte do Parque, há duas quadras poliesportivas, ciclovia, pista de patinação e skate, parque infantil, píer para pedalinhos. Daí funciona a Associação de Remo de Salvador, que também coordena projetos sociais, além de atletas. Funcionam também estabelecimentos comerciais oferendo comidas e bebidas. A partir desses espaços e instalações, o Parque de Pituaçu é palco de trilhas ecológicas e competições esportivas, inclusive de esportes radicais.
