Fue inaugurado en el año 1970, siendo aún el recinto cubierto para la práctica del deporte más grande de la provincia.InauguraciónEl Palacio fue levantado gracias a la colaboración del Ministerio de Educación, Política Social y Deporte de España, la Diputación Provincial de León y el Ayuntamiento de León, siendo inaugurado en el mes de abril de 1970.CaracterísticasSe encuentra situado en la margen derecha del río Bernesga, junto al Estadio Municipal Reino de León, en la Avenida Ingeniero Sáenz de Miera.
Cuenta con un aparcamiento que en ocasiones comparte con el estadio de fútbol.
Su aforo es de 5100 asientos.
