Detailed description is Established in 1973, this membership based fiddle club welcomes musicians of any genre and those who like to hear this music played to their monthly party. The Ottawa Traditional Fiddling and Folk Art Society was founded in 1973 by its founding Board of Directors: Denis Poirier, Leo Browne, Joe Leask, Malcolm Dewar, Wilfred Gillis, John Levert and Sam Cormier. This member club was organized to provide a forum for musicians who wanted to perform more traditional music and to encourage the younger generation giving them a platform in which to perform. Our objectives still remain true to this day honouring our founding members. . . We provide a regular meeting place for performers and those who appreciate traditional fiddling of all styles (old-time, Cape Breton, Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, Québecois) and related forms of folk art: bagpipes, accordion, step dancing, etc.. . We have many talented musicians in our member base and it is our desire to feature them at our upcoming parties. In addition, we continue to invite special guests to perform, once in the fall season and once in the spring season. . . Our monthly parties take place at the Montgomery Legion, lower hall, 330 Kent St. at MacLaren beginning at 7:30pm with an open jam session. . . We welcome new members or guests to our club.
