ORTAKÖY KSB. TARİHİ. . . “Ortaköy beldesinin kesin tarihi bilinmemekle birlikte 1375 yılında Adıyan çayının kenarına yerleşen küçük bir topluluktan söz edilmektedir. Kasaba bugüne kadar değişik isimlerle anılmıştır, bunlar; Ortagal, Balıkçı Ortaköy, Orta-Tipi ve nihayet Ortaköy. Çok eskiden kasabada patlayıcı madde olarak barutun yerini tutacak nitelikte “Gal” adı verilen bir madde üreten ocaklar varmış, bu nedenle Galorada deyiminin yerine, Ortagal adı türetilmiştir. Balıkçı Orta köy adının verilmesi ise yöre sakinlerinin 1990’lara kadar Akşehir gölünde balıkçılık yapmalarındandır.. . Kasabaya ilişkin Osmanlılar dönemine ait hiçbir bilgiye rastlanmamıştır. Yalnız Milli Mücadele sıralarına rastlayan yıllarda Türk ordusuna kasabanın Kaledişi mevkiinde yemek verildiği kasaba büyükleri tarafından ifade edilmiştir. Tarık Buğra’nın Küçük Ağa adlı eserinde de Ortaköy beldesinden bahsedilmektedir. Eserde Ortaköy Çiftliği olarak geçen yer bugün Pazarkaya Çiftliği olarak bilinmektedir. ”. . Tipi köyü sınırında bulunan Ekiz (Öküzün) Tepe Tümülüsleri bu bölgede yerleşmenin Roma dönemine dayandığını göstermektedir. Henüz kazı çalışması yapılmayan bu bölgedeki kazılar Ortaköy’ün tarihine ışık tutacaktır.. . Kasabanın bugünkü dokusu Cumhuriyet öncesi döneme rastlayan Merkez Cami çevresinde başlamıştır. 1920–1950 yılları arasında merkez camii çevresinde yağ lekesi gibi gelişen yerleşme alanı, 1950–80 yılları arasında doğuda Tipi köyüne kadar, güneyde ise Adıyan yoluna doğru kaymıştır. Karayolunun doğusuna ilk yerleşim alanlarının sıçraması ise 1960’lı yıllarda olmuştur.
