To bring back the Spirit of the Village and what is indigenous to us all: love. Motto: "As our Sense of Community Expands, our Sense of Self Expands." Events are held bi-monthly throughout the DMV, and are a result of a collaboration of different participating organizations and community members.. . Background: What started as a gathering of like minds at Mama's house launches into a larger movement to reclaim our Community. 2012, The One Love = True Change Movement was ignited in Washington DC, Los Angeles, & Oakland to unite the Village in common Understanding, Vision, and Action- by bringing Awareness to our History, Surroundings, and our Interconnected Responsibility to One other, our local Organic Talent & Ingenuity. . . Regular Event: Events are held bi-monthly in locations throughout the DMV. Each month we pay homage to the elders and ancestors, take a moment for the healing arts, and deeply explore a different issue that divides us as a community through short film/forum. Meanwhile, the diverse flea market works to strengthen and support our local economy, and then we close with our celebrated concert portion that serves to rebuild the lost tradition of our once positive musical culture. One Love is truly a movement to rebirth our light as a community and to reclaim it from the mass corporate takeover of our minds, bodies, hearts, and souls.. . Weekly Planning Meetings: To coordinate activists and artists in building a successful, regular, positive & conscious event for youth and families. Currently One Love holds weekly meetings with participating organizations and interested community members. Together we strive to serve our community through the generations through the medium of education and the arts in order to unite us once again in common purpose. . .
