Detailed description is The UAB/CEO centre is devoted to the research, documentation, education and dissemination of information on Olympism and sport.. The CEO-UAB was created with the goal of researching, documenting, training and disseminating information on Olympism and sport. The Olympic Studies Centre has actively promoted and participated as a key partner in the research, pedagogical techniques and in knowledge transfer projects on a international platform.. . Research activities. • Research projects undertaken by the CEO-UAB cover a number of different areas within the Olympic Games and sport,particularly from a social sciences perspective. Its main long term research lines are in the areas of: Communication, Sport and the Olympic Games; the impact and legacy of the Olympic Games, in particular Barcelona’92; and Sport in a multicultural context. • CEO-UAB provides a program to support PhD students undertaking post-graduate studies at the UAB in the field of Olympic Studies, that fall within in the research fields of the CEO-UAB. The program is opened to all PhD students that have officially registered their research at a UAB department.. • CEO-UAB offers researchers the chance to undertake research periods at the UAB through inter-university cooperation programmes or at an individual's request.. • Leads the International Chair in Olympism programme (17 holders since 1995). • Is a partner institution in two European-funded Leonardo DaVinci projects.. • Acts as a consultant in the design of sport policy for the city of Barcelona.. . Education. • CEO-UAB has organised a wide range of graduate and postgraduate activities about sport and Olympism. These include a graduate course on sport and the Olympic Games, training programmes for sports managers, university seminars given by the visiting professors of the International Chair in Olympism (IOC-UAB) and dissemination seminars on the legacy of the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games. In addition, the CEO-UAB promotes a training programme to host interns. . • Promotor and collaborative partner in international postgraduate training courses (Master of Arts Olympic Studies in partnership with Deutsche Sporthochschule Koln). . Dissemination. • CEO-UAB organises academic dissemination seminars,workshops and conferences, both locally and internationally, on various aspects of sport and the Olympic phenomenon. It has been an IOC partner in organising academic symposia and congresses: Olympic Ceremonies (1995), Olympic Villages (1996), Television (1998), Sport for All (1998), Volunteers (1999) and the Legacy of the Olympic Games (2002). • CEO-UAB has published an extensive programme of publications, including academic books, conference proceedings, research results and other documents with a selection as follows: . .
