A dispensation was issued by the Grand Master to allow a new Masonic Lodge, named Oasis Lodge U.D., and was to be formed in Los Angeles.
Oasis Lodge received its Charter at the 163rd Annual Communications of the Grand Lodge of California (2012) and issued the number 854.
It will meet at the Al Malaikah Shrine Center, and it hopes to attract potential Masons from the central city, downtown, and USC areas.
The, then, current Potentate of Al Malaikah Shrine (2011), Sam Pitassi, was selected to be installed as its first Worshipful Master.
The institution of the newly formed lodge was officiated on September 15, 2011, at the Al Malaikah Shrine Temple by the Most Worshipful Bill Bray, Grand Master of Masons in California; approximately 500 people were in attendance.
