During the Spring of 2016, after witnessing misleading and selective media coverage, we decided we needed to get accurate information out to the community. The Stanislaus River is the heart and soul of the Oakdale community, it is fed from the Sierra Nevada Mountains that runs down to the Spicer, Donnells, New Melones, Beardsley, Goodwin and Tullock reservoirs where it is stored and used to generate power. The water is then moved into the irrigation canals to grow our food, feed our animals and support our community. This system is delicate and requires superb management to maintain. We believe we are in danger of losing this precious commodity not only among ourselves but to the federal and state government. We believe that we must act now before we lose it.
